Dramatic Comeback Sees Denmark Secure 1-1 Draw with England

It was a pulsating game in a tensed atmosphere as Denmark staged a comeback to secure a 1-1 draw against England at Euro 2024 in Germany on Thursday, boosting their chances of advancing from the group stage.

England leads Group C with four points, while Denmark and Slovenia each have two points, and Serbia has one.

Harry Kane put England ahead 18 minutes in, slotting a rebound into the bottom left corner. Jonas Wind missed a golden opportunity in the 32nd minute, sending a header over the bar from a perfect cross. Denmark equalized in the 34th minute when Victor Kristiansen passed to Morten Hjulmand, whose long-range shot deflected off the post into the bottom left corner.

Kasper Schmeichel made a brilliant save in the 41st minute, stopping Phil Foden’s shot from just outside the box. Three minutes later, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s long-range effort towards the top right corner was denied by the keeper.

In the 56th minute, Phil Foden’s shot from the edge of the box hit the right post. Ollie Watkins’ attempt in the 71st minute was saved by Schmeichel. Two minutes later, Hojbjerg’s strike from distance was comfortably saved by Jordan Pickford. Late in the game, Hojbjerg’s low shot from distance was again saved by Pickford, keeping the score at 1-1.
