Governor Sule Approves N30 Billion for Lafia Underpass, Flyover, and Rural Projects

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has approved over N30 billion for constructing an underpass and flyover in Lafia and several rural development projects across the state.

At a recent state executive council meeting, Commissioner of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Ibrahim Uthman Angbolo, outlined the details to journalists. A key project is a 1-kilometer underpass and flyover in Lafia, costing N16.6 billion, with immediate commencement to alleviate traffic congestion in the state capital.

Meanwhile, N3.2 billion has been allocated for three new roads to further ease Lafia’s traffic flow.

“In Lafia metropolis, several link roads to major highways will be constructed to facilitate movement and reduce traffic congestion,” Angbolo said. These roads are estimated to cost N2.3 billion.

Akwanga, the headquarters of Akwanga Local Government Area, will receive a facelift worth N7.91 billion. The council also approved a N61.5 million contract for a link road connecting Kwandere to Keffi.

“To enhance the headquarters of the three senatorial zones, the council approved urban renewal projects for Akwanga, including the construction and dualization of roads linking Keffi Road and Lafia Road from the roundabouts at a cost of N7.91 billion.

Additionally, to improve the working environment for civil servants, the government has decided to expand the government secretariat project. The council approved Phase Two of the new government secretariat, which includes additional buildings to accommodate more ministries, at a cost of N6.8 billion,” Angbolo explained.

He also mentioned that the design for the entire secretariat complex has been approved at N991.1 million. In Doma, a modern market will be constructed for N971.1 million, and adjoining stores and warehouses in Lafia Square will be completed for N263.4 million.
