In just 24 hours, a staggering 14,000 hopefuls vied for temporary teaching roles in Jigawa State, a revelation made by Professor Haruna Musa, the Chairman of the Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board.
This revelation came during a formal event where 3,233 successful candidates received permanent job offers at the Aminu Kano Triangle in Dutse, the state capital.
Professor Musa emphasized that these individuals initially served as temporary teachers for two years. Upon demonstrating their competence through a series of exams and training, they earned permanent, pensionable positions through a merit-based process.
He expressed confidence in their ability to deliver quality education to the children, underscoring the integrity of their selection.
Moreover, Professor Musa stressed the board’s commitment to vigilant oversight, pledging swift action against any employee found breaching their employment terms.
Meanwhile, he announced the board’s initiative to recruit 3,000 more temporary J-Teach teachers through an open portal, a move aimed at alleviating Jigawa’s persistent teacher shortage.
Governor Umar Namadi, addressing the gathering, highlighted the pivotal role of mass employment in advancing his administration’s ambitious 12-point agenda. He emphasized the indispensable need for well-trained and capable personnel to effectively execute governmental policies.
