Measles Outbreak Prompts Adamawa State to Close Schools Immediately

Adamawa State Government Orders School Closure Amid Measles Outbreak In response to a measles outbreak, the Adamawa State Government has issued an urgent directive to shut down all public and private schools across the state.

The decision, announced on Monday, aims to contain the spread of the disease and facilitate vaccination efforts by the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA) targeting the vulnerable age group.

The Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, through a statement signed by Permanent Secretary Aisha Umar, has rescheduled the school resumption date to Monday, May 13, 2024. All educational institutions are mandated to comply with this directive.

The outbreak has already claimed the lives of 42 children in the state, prompting the government to take swift action to contain the disease and prevent further casualties.
