The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, delivered a powerful Eid message on Wednesday, urging the Muslim Ummah to actively seek knowledge to fortify their faith.
In his address, Abubakar emphasized the significance of offering prayers for the nation’s leaders and the overall prosperity of the country.
“We must express gratitude to Almighty Allah for the precious gift of life and good health, enabling us to observe the 30 days of fasting and joyously celebrate Eid-el-Fitr,” the Sultan remarked. He underscored the global importance of this day in Islam, marking the culmination of Ramadan and the joyful Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
Further advocating for compassion and solidarity, Abubakar called upon Muslims to continue embodying the spirit of Ramadan by extending support to those in need. He also commended the Sokoto State Government, led by Gov. Ahmed Aliyu, for its unwavering dedication and partnership with Muslim scholars in fostering unity and progress.
In a separate Eid message, Governor Ahmed Aliyu echoed the Sultan’s sentiments, urging the Muslim community in the state to uphold the values of Ramadan to invoke Allah’s mercy and forgiveness. Aliyu specifically urged affluent individuals to continue their acts of generosity toward the less fortunate, acknowledging their commendable efforts.
“I commend the selfless acts of assistance provided by some of our affluent citizens to the needy in our society,” Aliyu remarked. He further affirmed the government’s commitment to allocating significant resources to support the less privileged and vulnerable groups across the state.
The messages from both leaders underscored the importance of knowledge, compassion, and unity as fundamental pillars of faith and societal progress, resonating deeply with the spirit of Eid-el-Fitr.
