A lawsuit filed in California on Tuesday alleges that Kanye West, the controversial rapper, repeatedly shouted at Black employees and praised Adolf Hitler as an “innovator.”
The lawsuit, filed by a former employee named Trevor Phillips, claims that West, also known as Ye, engaged in discriminatory behavior and harassment. Phillips, who is Black, worked for two of West’s ventures for nearly a year.
According to the lawsuit, West made racist and antisemitic remarks, including alleging persecution by Jewish people and yelling obscenities about them stealing his money. Phillips also alleges that West praised Hitler during a dinner at an upscale restaurant, referring to him as “great” and attributing inventions like cars to him, despite historical inaccuracies.
The lawsuit further mentions West’s previous antisemitic remarks and his apologies to the Jewish community on social media. West’s behavior has led clothing brands like GAP and Adidas to sever ties with him.
West’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, has called for understanding as he deals with mental health struggles. The lawsuit seeks to address West’s alleged discriminatory and antisemitic behavior, emphasizing that such messages have no place in society.
