Omobolarinde Akinyanju, popularly known as Ashabi, has expressed her heartfelt condolences following the tragic news of the passing of Akintoye Benson, who served as an aide to former NURTW boss, MC Oluomo.
Benson’s untimely demise occurred in a fatal car accident on Thursday night, March 7th, 2024, on Third Mainland Bridge.
Upon coming across the news on Bimbo Success’s Instagram page, Ashabi initially did not recognize the identity of the deceased. However, she later realized that Benson had been a significant source of support to her, allowing her to film her movie at his residence. Despite her crew consuming provisions from his fridge during the shoot, Benson never complained and consistently restocked it without hesitation.
Reflecting on the unpredictable nature of life and the inevitability of death, Ashabi offered prayers for God’s forgiveness and peace for Benson’s departed soul. In an emotional tribute, she wrote: “GOD, no one can question you. The first post I saw on IG this morning was Aunty Bimbo’s, and I didn’t know it was someone who had helped me who left. I was just thinking everybody will leave one day, hummmm. May GOD forgive all your sins and make your soul rest in perfect peace, sir.”
She fondly recalled how Benson generously opened his home for the filming of her movie “Side Chick,” allowing them access for two days and even replenishing their fridge after it was emptied by the crew. Ashabi expressed gratitude for his kindness and generosity, acknowledging that he had fulfilled his part on earth and praying for his peaceful reception in heaven.
