Nigerian Army Rescues 18 Kidnapped Women in Katsina

On Wednesday, soldiers from the Nigerian Army successfully rescued 18 female hostages from their captors and handed them over to the Katsina State Government.

Brig. Gen. Oluremi Fadairo, the Brigade Commander of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Katsina, revealed this to reporters, stating that the troops conducted a rescue operation in the bandits’ hideouts at Yan-Tumaki and Dan-Ali forests.

He noted that the soldiers engaged the terrorists in a firefight, resulting in the successful rescue of the hostages. During the handover ceremony to Dr. Nasiru Mu’azu, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, the Brigade Commander emphasized the Nigerian Army’s commitment to maintaining lasting peace in the state.

He urged the Brigade personnel to continue such rescue operations to free all other kidnapped victims. In response, Mu’azu reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication to restoring peace in the state. He highlighted Governor Dikko Radda’s significant investments in the security sector, noting that these efforts have yielded positive outcomes.
