Osun Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has strongly condemned the recent surge of violence in the Ifon/Ilobu communities and vowed decisive action against those responsible.
In an ongoing virtual security meeting on Tuesday, Governor Adeleke, as relayed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, asserted his determination to quell the unrest and bring perpetrators to justice.
He emphasized that those behind the renewed attacks would be apprehended and prosecuted for disrupting peace in the area, affirming a zero-tolerance stance towards violence.
The resurgence of violent clashes within both communities on Monday prompted Governor Adeleke’s swift response, with reports indicating three fatalities since the outbreak.
“I convened a virtual security meeting last night, and a physical meeting is currently in progress. We will not tolerate the perpetrators of this heinous act,” stated Governor Adeleke.
He further warned of consequences for any traditional ruler found inciting violence and assured that investigations were underway to hold accountable prominent leaders involved.
Governor Adeleke assured that directives had been issued to address the situation, with security operations initiated to de-escalate tensions.
Despite his attendance at a national minimum wage meeting in Abuja, the governor reiterated his commitment to restoring calm and announced forthcoming measures to achieve this.
“This time, those responsible will face the full weight of the law,” Governor Adeleke emphasized, underscoring his resolve to uphold peace and security in the region.
