Redeemer’s University, situated in Ede, Osun State, has categorically denied any affiliation with individuals identified as fake professors in a viral social media post.
The post, which listed 100 names of alleged fake professors in Nigerian universities, cited the National Universities Commission (NUC) as its information source. Notably, some of these individuals were purported to be teaching at Redeemer’s University.
Adetunji Adeleye, the Deputy Director of the Corporate Affairs Directorate of the university, issued a statement in Osogbo on Saturday vehemently rejecting, denouncing, and disassociating the institution from what he described as an “abominable publication.” According to Adeleye, the individuals named as fake professors at Redeemer’s University have never been associated with the university in any capacity.
In a cautionary tone, Adeleye informed the public that the university does not recognize these alleged professors. He urged individuals to exercise caution when dealing with them, emphasizing that any engagement is at one’s own risk. Additionally, he advised the public to verify information through the NUC, the regulatory body overseeing Nigerian universities, and warned against the spread of fake news.
Adeleye referenced Dr. Noel Saliu, Deputy Executive Secretary at the NUC in charge of its Academic Directorate, who characterized the information as mischief. Saliu emphasized that the publication aimed to tarnish the reputation of the mentioned universities and undermine the NUC’s work. He clarified that the information was untrue and could not have originated from the NUC without proper consultation with accredited universities.
