Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has unequivocally affirmed his administration’s commitment to proceeding with comprehensive reforms in the state’s mining sector.
The governor shared that the primary objective behind these reforms is to ensure the optimal utilization of the state’s mineral resources for the maximum benefit of Osun State.
Governor Adeleke conveyed this message during a significant meeting with the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers held at the state secretariat in Abere on Thursday. During the meeting, he not only discussed the mining sector overhaul but also outlined his administration’s dedication to enhancing the state’s internally generated revenue. He reassured the public that steps have been taken to prevent imposing an excessive tax burden on the people.
Highlighting the judicious management of federal interventions under his watch, Governor Adeleke stated, “The reform of the solid mineral sector is ongoing. The goal is to ensure maximum benefit for the state from her natural resources. We are working to improve internally generated revenue without imposing an excessive tax burden on our people.”
Beyond the mining sector, he shed light on the responsible and transparent approach taken in managing federal interventions, especially in response to recent national economic challenges. Governor Adeleke emphasized the fair and accountable distribution of palliative measures through various associations, ensuring transparency in the process.
Demonstrating a commitment to responsible leadership, he disclosed the establishment of a project account to meticulously handle the N7 billion federal intervention fund. This fund is viewed as an additional contribution aimed at addressing the infrastructural deficit in the state, aligning with the government’s significant investments in its infrastructure agenda, totaling multi-billion naira.
