President Tinubu Suspends NSIPA CEO, Appoints Akindele Egbuwalo

President Bola Tinubu has taken the decisive step of suspending Hajia Halima Shehu, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), citing allegations of financial impropriety.

According to reports from Channels Television, President Tinubu promptly suspended Shehu and approved her replacement. Akindele Egbuwalo, the national N-Power programme manager, has been appointed as the interim replacement for Shehu until investigations are completed.

It is noteworthy that the Senate had confirmed Shehu’s appointment on October 18, 2023. During her tenure as the National Coordinator of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Shehu applied her banking and professional expertise to facilitate the digitalization of the program.

Prior to her role at NSIPA, she contributed her skills from the banking sector to government service at the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development from 2017 to 2022.
