Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has granted approval for the issuance and distribution of bond certificates valued at one billion, six hundred and twenty-five million, three hundred and thirty-two thousand, eight hundred and thirty-five naira, seventy-five kobo (N1,625,332,835:75) to retirees participating in the contributory pension scheme.
The disclosure was made by Ibrahim Akibu, the Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pension Bureau, in a statement released in Osogbo on Wednesday.
Akibu clarified that the beneficiaries encompass individuals from primary schools and local government, consisting of 346 primary school teachers and 182 beneficiaries from the local government, totaling 164 beneficiaries. He underscored that the issuance of bond certificates is a continued manifestation of the state government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of both active and retired workers.
Emphasizing Governor Adeleke’s dedication to addressing salary, pension, and emolument arrears in the public service, Akibu stated that the presentation ceremony is slated for Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Local Government Service Commission building in Abere.
It is noteworthy that Governor Adeleke had previously initiated the payment of outstanding half salaries and other emoluments owed to public servants by the previous administration.
