The Lagos State Government has served contravention notices to property owners in Shoreline Estate, Onikoyi Estate, Park View, and Banana Island, urging them to address fences encroaching on drainage channels.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, specified a seven-day ultimatum for house owners to rectify setbacks. The government observed that structures in these areas didn’t meet the mandated three-meter setback for secondary collector drains.
Wahab urged voluntary compliance within the stipulated timeframe, warning of enforcement and potential surcharges for government-incurred expenses if owners fail to act.
