The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) categorically denies any plans to seize the Supreme Court, countering insinuations that had circulated.
In a statement from the national chairman, Abba Kawu Ali, both the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement dismissed any notions of occupying the Supreme Court or foreign missions in Nigeria.
The NNPP describes these allegations as groundless, attributing them to the ill-conceived Coalition of Civil Society Organizations for Democracy and its patrons, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party emphasizes that the accusations from the coalition are not only laughable but also exemplify the extent to which the opposition in Kano State is willing to concoct falsehoods in their desperate pursuit of power.
Recognizing their lack of a substantial case at the Supreme Court, the APC resorts to tactics such as blackmail, intimidation, and misinformation in an attempt to deceive the public, judiciary, and security agencies, all in the pursuit of illegitimately claiming the mandate freely given to the NNPP by the people of Kano State.
The NNPP expresses unwavering confidence in the nation’s judiciary as the cornerstone of justice and a refuge for citizens seeking recourse. The party points to a recent dismissal of a suit at the Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State (suit number FHC/AWK/CS/150/2023 NNPP & 5 ORS VS RABIU MUSA KWANKWASO and 10 ORS on Thursday, December 7, 2023) as a testament. This suit, initiated by expelled members of the party, allied with and sponsored by the APC, falsely claimed that the NNPP had withdrawn from the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with the Kwankwasiya Movement and the National Movement.
