Eko Bridge to Temporarily Close for Urgent Repairs, Lagos State Announces

The Lagos State Government has issued a notice of the temporary closure of the renowned Eko Bridge for a two-day period to facilitate essential repair work.

The announcement, made by Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, underscores the necessity for immediate repairs on Eko Bridge, specifically the segment between Costain and Alaka descent.

These repairs are imperative to prevent potential theft or vandalism of the expansion joint, address missing components, and conduct reconstruction of the transition concrete surrounding the expansion joint. Accordingly, the Eko Bridge is set to be off-limits to all traffic starting from 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, with plans to reopen it by 4 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023.

Motorists intending to use the bridge during this period are strongly advised to divert through the Costain Ramp, connecting to Alaka via the Costain Roundabout. The statement further assures the deployment of an ample number of traffic management and security personnel to oversee the construction areas and the alternative routes. Motorists are encouraged to cooperate with these officials, exercise patience, and adhere to safety protocols throughout the closure.
