President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso to serve as the next Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), with an initial term of five years, pending approval by the Nigerian Senate.
This is according to a statement released on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale.
According to the statement, the nomination is in accordance with Section 8(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, which grants the President the authority to appoint the CBN Governor and four Deputy Governors, subject to Senate confirmation.
Furthermore, President Tinubu has also put forth the names of four individuals for the position of Deputy Governors at the CBN. These nominees include Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.
