According to BBC Sports, a 42-year-old man has been apprehended on suspicion of assault following an incident that occurred during Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Manchester United on Sunday.Â
This incident was brought to light by footage circulating on social media, which depicted Sky Sports analysts Micah Richards and Roy Keane engaged in a confrontation with an individual.The alleged victim of the assault is reported to be former United captain Keane.
Sky Sports reported that, Micah Richards was attempting to de-escalate the situation. The Metropolitan Police issued a statement confirming an investigation into the incident that transpired at Emirates Stadium on September 3, leading to the arrest of a 42-year-old man on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH). The investigation remains ongoing.
A spokesperson for Sky Sports mentioned, “We understand the police are investigating an alleged assault by a member of the public immediately preceding the footage circulating on social media. In the footage seen, Micah Richards was acting to defuse a situation.”
Micah Richards, a former Manchester City and England defender, aged 35, and Roy Keane, a 52-year-old former Republic of Ireland international, were part of the Sky Sports team covering the Premier League match at Emirates Stadium.
