Liverpool has turned down a substantial £150 million offer from the Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad for Mohamed Salah.
The bid for the 31-year-old forward exceeded £100 million, including various add-ons that raised the total value to £150 million. Liverpool has reiterated their unwavering position that Salah, the Egyptian international, is not available for transfer, and they consider this matter closed.
Salah, who initially joined Liverpool from the Italian side Roma in 2017, put pen to paper on a new three-year contract with the club just last summer. Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, reaffirmed last week that Salah is fully committed to the club, stating that he is “100% committed” to the Anfield cause. Klopp emphasized that Liverpool’s stance remains unchanged and added, “That’s how it is. Nothing more to say.”
Liverpool would have little time to respond in the event of a potential departure for Salah, as the transfer window for Premier League teams closes at 23:00 BST on Friday. However, Al-Ittihad still has the opportunity to sign players because the Saudi Pro League’s transfer window is scheduled to close on 7 September.
Salah’s agent had previously dismissed talk of a move to Saudi Arabia but has not yet commented on the recent links with Al-Ittihad.
In a social media post on 7 August, Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, underscored Salah’s commitment to Liverpool, noting that they wouldn’t have renewed his contract last summer if they had considered leaving the club.
