The anticipated arraignment of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), over alleged N6.9 billion procurement fraud, faced yet another setback on Wednesday.
Despite being listed for the day, the matter did not appear on the cause list of a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja, and both legal teams were absent. Last Thursday, Emefiele had been set to be arraigned, but the absence of the second defendant, a female CBN employee named Sa’adatu Yaro, had caused the delay.
While Emefiele was present in court, the presiding judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, granted an adjournment to August 23, 2023, after an application for the same.
