Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola Set to Miss Two Premier League Matches Due to Back Surgery

Manchester City’s head coach, Pep Guardiola, is expected to be sidelined for the next two Premier League matches as he recovers from back surgery.

Guardiola, 52, had been grappling with severe back pain, prompting him to undergo a minor emergency operation in Barcelona.

During his absence, assistant manager Juanma Lillo will lead the team both in training and from the touchline for matches against Sheffield United on Sunday and Fulham on September 2nd at Etihad Stadium.

The surgery, performed by Dr. Mireia Illueca, has been declared successful by the club. Guardiola will spend his recovery and rehabilitation period in Barcelona before returning to his managerial responsibilities after the international break.

Last season, Guardiola achieved an impressive treble for the club by securing the Premier League, FA Cup, and their first-ever Champions League title. However, this season’s early Premier League standings have seen Manchester City take second place, tied on six points with leaders Brighton and Arsenal, following victories against Burnley and Newcastle in their opening two matches.
