Governor Uba Sani Unveils Tuition Fee Reduction for Tertiary Institutions in Kaduna

In response to the escalating cost of living following the removal of petroleum subsidies, the Kaduna State government has taken a proactive step by reducing tuition fees for state-owned tertiary institutions.

This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on students and families. The tuition fees have been significantly slashed by a range of 30 to 50 percent across educational institutions such as the Kaduna State University, Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, and Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya.

Governor Uba Sani officially announced this tuition reduction during a press conference held on Monday. He emphasized that the decision was prompted by the concerns raised by the public regarding the steep fees levied by tertiary institutions within the state. The Governor noted that these high fees were affecting student enrollment rates and overall retention.

Governor Sani underscored the government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of its citizens. He assured the public that his administration remains steadfast in its dedication to providing accessible and high-quality education, ranging from primary to secondary school levels.

He further articulated his vision to broaden opportunities for higher education, enhance the working conditions and welfare of educators, and amplify investments in educational infrastructure and technical/vocational training.

Governor Sani also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the provision of free and quality education extends across primary and secondary schools in Kaduna State. He expressed his determination to strengthen access to higher education, all while fortifying the well-being of teachers.

Additionally, he highlighted the government’s recognition of human capital development as a pivotal component of his administration’s SUSTAIN Agenda. Governor Sani disclosed that the government has taken tangible steps to support marginalized and vulnerable groups within Kaduna State through the implementation of the first Executive Order, aimed at facilitating financial inclusion for 2.1 million vulnerable citizens.

This move reflects the government’s dedication to prioritizing education, fostering inclusivity, and creating opportunities for the state’s populace, even in the face of challenging economic circumstances.
