De Zerbi expresses his satisfaction with the team’s performance and describes himself as fortunate to lead the club, especially after his side demonstrated another dynamic attacking display to comfortably defeat Wolves, securing a flawless two wins at the start of the Premier League season.
Brighton continued their winning streak, putting on a show at Molineux Stadium with a resounding 4-1 victory over Wolves.
A spectacular individual effort from Kaoru Mitoma opened the scoring at Molineux. The Japanese international received a precise pass from Pervis Estupinan near the halfway line, elegantly sidestepped several half-hearted challenges, and calmly finished past the oncoming Jose Sa.
Despite Wolves having chances to level the game, their inability to convert proved costly as Brighton unleashed a relentless onslaught, netting three times in just nine minutes during the second half. Estupinan swiftly extended the visitors’ lead with a perfectly placed low shot, finding the back of the net only 41 seconds into the second half.
Solly March, impressing under the watchful eye of England manager Gareth Southgate, sealed the victory with two well-executed close-range goals, extending Brighton’s lead to an emphatic 4-0. Wolves managed a consolation as substitute Hwang Hee-chan headed in a well-placed goal.
“I’m genuinely pleased with both the outcome and the team’s performance,” De Zerbi shared with journalists. “Mitoma’s exceptional ability was evident, March’s two goals were crucial, and [Julio] Enciso truly shone as the standout player on the field. I consider myself very fortunate.”
He further commented, “I have an outstanding squad, effectively blending youthful potential with seasoned experience. While we relish our current success, we’re fully cognizant of our untapped potential. My responsibility is to drive them to achieve even greater heights.”
In a challenging afternoon for the hosts, Matheus Nunes received a late red card, adding to the woes for Gary O’Neil’s side.
