Romeo Lavia has officially agreed to a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge, providing an additional boost to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

After finalizing his transfer to Chelsea, Lavia expressed his elation, stating: “I’m genuinely delighted to join Chelsea and become a part of this captivating project. The football club boasts an exceptional history, and I’m overflowing with excitement to initiate this journey. I’m eagerly anticipating the chance to meet all my new teammates, collaborate closely, and establish a strong synergy to accomplish remarkable feats together.”

Co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley conveyed their contentment with Romeo’s addition to Chelsea.

They said, “We’re truly thrilled to welcome Romeo to Chelsea. He showcased his exceptional abilities in the previous Premier League season with Southampton, demonstrating remarkable maturity despite his young age. He’s been under our observation for a considerable period. We firmly believe that he’s prepared to create a significant impact at Chelsea this ongoing season and in the years to come.”

Lavia’s career commenced at Anderlecht in his native Belgium, where he spent eight years before making the transition to Manchester City at the age of 16.

He left a strong impression while playing for the club’s Under-18s and Elite Development Squad, earning him his senior debut in September 2021.

Lavia’s inaugural appearance came during the EFL Cup match against Wycombe Wanderers, contributing significantly to his team’s resounding 6-1 victory.

Subsequently, Lavia was featured in one more first-team game for City before ultimately transferring to Southampton in the past summer.
