Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently chairing the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the State House Council Chambers in Abuja on Thursday.
Comprising the governors of all 36 states of the federation, the NEC also includes ministers overseeing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Finance Ministries, along with the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and other key figures as its members.
Among the governors in attendance are Abdulrahman Abdulrazak of Kwara, Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Inuwa Yahya of Gombe, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Dr. Alex Otti of Abia, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Ademola Adeleke of Osun.
Also present are Senator Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Senator Uba Sani of Kaduna, Sheriff Obrevwori of Delta, Charles Soludo of Anambra, Godwin Obaseki of Edo, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, and Umaru Namadi of Jigawa.
Attending the meeting are Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Prince Bassey Otu of Cross River, Lucky Aiyedatiwa (acting governor) of Ondo State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Ahmad Aliu of Sokoto, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Peter Mbah of Enugu, and Process Babagana Zulum of Borno.
Additionally, deputy governors representing Katsina, Rivers, Yobe, Adamawa, Kano, and Kebbi States are participating in this significant gathering.
