Harry Kane Nears Bayern Munich Move as Medical Set After Tottenham’s Approval

Tottenham Hotspur’s Forward, Harry Kane, is on the verge of undergoing a medical evaluation at Bayern Munich, having been granted travel permission by his current club Tottenham. A substantial deal exceeding 100 million euros (£86.4 million) was successfully negotiated between Bayern and Spurs on Thursday.

The decision to make this transfer was ultimately left to Kane himself, who holds the distinguished position of Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer, amassing an impressive 280 goals in 435 appearances.

The imminent nature of the deal was confirmed by Spurs’ manager, Ange Postecoglou, on Friday. With only one year remaining on his contract and slim chances of extending his tenure at Tottenham, Kane’s departure has been anticipated. Barring any unexpected setbacks, his transition to Bayern is projected to be completed before the Bundesliga season begins next week.

Kane’s eagerness for a resolution regarding his future before the season kick-off was the catalyst for this move. However, it took a significant part of the summer for Bayern to reach a stage where Tottenham’s chairman, Daniel Levy, was amenable to a deal.

While initial speculation linked Kane to a potential move to Manchester United, questions loomed over whether Levy would sanction a transfer to another Premier League club. Kane could have opted to play out the final year of his contract and depart as a free agent in 2024.

In 2021, Manchester City’s pursuit of Kane prompted the striker to delay his return to pre-season training. Despite ongoing negotiations with Bayern, Kane participated in Tottenham’s recent pre-season tour of Australia and Southeast Asia. His latest appearance was against Shakhtar Donetsk last Sunday.

As Tottenham prepares to face Brentford in their season opener, and Bayern gears up for their campaign’s start against RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup, Kane’s impending transfer holds significant implications. Kane, a three-time winner of the Premier League Golden Boot, boasts a tally of 213 goals from 320 matches in the English top-flight. With just 48 goals needed to surpass Alan Shearer’s Premier League scoring record, a move to Germany could potentially thwart this achievement.

In response to the news, Alan Shearer humorously shared his thoughts on social media, indicating that it might be time for Kane to bid farewell to the Premier League. This impending departure ensures that Shearer’s own record of 260 top-flight goals, achieved during his tenure at Newcastle and Blackburn, remains unchallenged – at least for the foreseeable future.
