BREAKING: Emir of Kano Meets Niger Coup Leaders Amid Diplomatic Efforts

Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, the 14th Emir of Kano, has engaged in discussions with the leaders of the recent coup in Niger.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had a meeting with the military leadership after the junta decided to cancel a scheduled meeting with representatives from the African Union (AU), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and a prominent US diplomat. Despite efforts by an ECOWAS delegation to mediate with the military rulers, a meeting was declined.

Interestingly, video footage surfaced on Wednesday, showcasing Sanusi, who holds considerable influence due to his affiliation with the Tijjaniya sect, renowned for its substantial following in Niger. Sanusi holds the notable position of Khalifa within the sect for West Africa.

More details soon.
