Babatunde Fashola Fiercely Rejects Baseless Allegations of Influencing PEPT Verdict

Babatunde Fashola SAN, the ex-Minister of Works and Housing, has refuted the unfounded and damaging claim that he played a role in formulating the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) judges.

Fashola expressed his deep disappointment regarding the dissemination of this untrue information across social media platforms. He has called upon law enforcement agencies to take necessary actions against those responsible for disseminating false news.

Fashola clarified in response to the allegation that he has been absent from Abuja for an extended duration, rendering the accusations completely baseless. He strongly condemned the individuals behind these malicious claims, labeling them as disruptors.

Taking action against the offensive tweets and online reports, Fashola has initiated the process of formally lodging complaints with the management of the microblogging platform X (previously Twitter) and the National Communications Commission (NCC). He urged relevant security agencies to treat this matter with the utmost gravity, as it strikes at the core of judicial autonomy.

Fashola, the former two-term Governor of Lagos State, suspects that these allegations might be part of a larger scheme aimed at undermining the judiciary by individuals seeking to exploit the institution for their own benefit. He underscores the importance of exposing those responsible and their backers, ensuring they face appropriate legal consequences.

Fashola’s media advisor, Hakeem Bello, issued a press release on behalf of the former minister, urging the public to dismiss these false accusations and encouraging them to report any individuals involved in propagating such dangerous fabrications to relevant law enforcement agencies.
