The court handling the presidential election petition has resumed proceedings for the case brought forward by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Earlier, the tribunal had postponed the petition after President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) completed their defense on July 5th. The court had instructed the parties involved in the petition to draft, file, and exchange their final written addresses.
Atiku is disputing the outcome of the February 25 election and requesting the court to nullify Tinubu’s victory. During the recent court session on Tuesday, Atiku and some other political associates were in attendance, and now the parties in the suit are expected to proceed with adopting their final written addresses.
