Former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu wouldn’t regret nominating him as a minister in his cabinet. Wike made this statement during his screening before the red chamber on Monday. Notably, he is the only Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member on the ministerial list of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration, which the President submitted to the Senate last Thursday.
During his tenure as governor from May 2015 to May 2023, Wike initiated and successfully completed numerous infrastructure projects in the oil-rich Niger Delta state, inviting politicians from various parties to commission them.
