The Jigawa State government has given its approval for the allocation of N50 million to assist 1,000 women traders in the state. The purpose of this financial support is to help alleviate the impact of the petrol subsidy removal on their businesses.
The decision was announced by Sagir Musa, the commissioner for information, youths, sports, and culture, during a press briefing on July 26. He stated that the approval was based on a memo presented by Hadiza Abdulwahab, the commissioner for women’s affairs, to the council. The ministry has been tasked with the responsibility of identifying and providing N50,000 each to the selected 1,000 women petty traders to bolster their businesses.
