The lifeless body of an unidentified woman has been retrieved from the Asa River, situated along Emir’s Road.
The Kwara State fire service successfully conducted the recovery operation. Hassan Adekunle, spokesperson for the state fire service, confirmed that the body has been transferred to the morgue at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).
The swift response was initiated by SP Dolapo from the ‘B’ Division Police Station in Ilorin, who alerted and requested the assistance of the fire service at the scene. This collaborative effort between the police and fire service exemplifies the importance of inter-agency cooperation in effectively managing emergency situations.
Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, the Director of the fire service, personally oversaw the operation and expressed profound sadness regarding the incident. He took the opportunity to urge the general public to maintain heightened vigilance in their neighborhoods to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
