Court Upholds Expulsion of Ex-Gombe State Governor Goje from APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) suspension and expulsion of former Gombe State Governor, Senator Mohammed Danjuma Goje, has been upheld by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Judge Obiora Egwuatu dismissed the lawsuit filed by Goje challenging his expulsion from the APC by the Kashere Ward Executive Committee, stating that there was no evidence indicating that Goje was deprived of a fair hearing by the party.

The court acknowledged that the senator was provided with ample opportunities to appear before an investigative committee set up by the party to investigate the allegations against him. However, he failed to avail himself of these opportunities.

The court highlighted evidence of Goje’s chance to be heard, including a newspaper publication that explicitly called for his presence at the committee meeting, specifying the date and venue.

As Goje intentionally disregarded the committee’s invitation, he cannot argue that he was denied a fair hearing.

Consequently, Judge Egwuatu dismissed the case on the grounds of its lack of merit.

In April, Goje was suspended and expelled from the APC based on allegations of engaging in anti-party activities.
