Leicester End Goal Drought and Losing Streak with Hard-Fought Draw at Brighton

Leicester City finally ended their 13-hour Premier League goal drought and halted an eight-game losing streak with a spirited 2-2 draw away at Brighton, offering a brief glimmer of hope in an otherwise dire campaign.

It looked like another long afternoon for the Foxes when Joao Pedro opened the scoring from the penalty spot, after VAR spotted a handball by Conor Coady. But instead of folding, Leicester responded with renewed energy. Stephy Mavididi pulled them level before half-time, not only equalizing but also breaking Leicester’s long run of eight league games without finding the back of the net.

Brighton, who were met with boos from some frustrated fans at the final whistle, regained the lead through a second Pedro penalty—again awarded by VAR. Yet Leicester showed resolve once more, with Caleb Okoli rising highest to head home the equalizer and keep the visitors alive.

While the result does little to alter Leicester’s bleak outlook—they remain 14 points adrift of safety and are still staring down the barrel of relegation—it was a far more encouraging display from a side that has struggled for form and belief.

As for Brighton, this was another disappointing home performance against a newly-promoted team. The Seagulls will finish the season without a home win over Ipswich, Southampton, or Leicester. Sitting ninth in the table, their hopes of European football have taken another hit following back-to-back defeats. They had chances to win it, but were made to pay for their wastefulness, especially when Bilal El Khannouss struck the post with just minutes remaining.
