O’Brien’s Late Equalizer Earns Everton 1-1 Draw with West Ham, Extending Unbeaten Run

Jake O’Brien scored a dramatic 91st-minute equalizer to earn Everton a 1-1 draw with West Ham at Goodison Park, extending their unbeaten run to nine matches.

David Moyes appeared to be on the verge of securing a victory over his former club, with Tomas Soucek giving West Ham the lead midway through the second half. However, Everton responded late when O’Brien rose to meet Idrissa Gueye’s cross, nodding the ball in from close range to level the score.

The game remained intense, with Carlos Alcaraz nearly securing a last-minute winner, but his shot drifted just wide as Everton pressed in the dying moments to preserve their unbeaten streak. While Moyes’ side were unlucky not to have had a first-half penalty for Beto, which was overturned by VAR, Everton were certainly deserving of the point with their late surge.

As a result, West Ham remain in 16th place, while Everton climb to 14th, moving ahead of another of Moyes’ former teams, Manchester United.
