Nike has unveiled a reimagined version of one of the most iconic Premier League balls, set to make its debut when Aston Villa faces league leaders Liverpool on Wednesday. This marks a special moment as Puma is set to take over as the official ball supplier for the Premier League starting in the 2025-26 season, ending Nike’s 25-year reign as the top flight’s ball provider. However, Nike is signing off in style with this nostalgic release.
The updated version of the T90 Aerow I, which was a prominent feature of the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons, will replace the current Hi-Vis winter ball for the remainder of the season, as the Premier League transitions into spring. The design is a nod to its classic heritage, featuring an all-white base with subtle blue rings that remain a signature of the T90 series.
This new version comes after the Nike Flight ball, used throughout the current season, which is praised for its ability to provide a “truer flight” thanks to grooves engineered into the casing. These grooves allow air to flow seamlessly around the ball, and the shorter seam length contributes to a more responsive touch.
For Chelsea fans, the return of this ball will bring back fond memories, especially after the club clinched back-to-back Premier League titles under manager Jose Mourinho, using this very design.
