Academy graduates Dane Scarlett, Damola Ajayi, and Mikey Moore all netted their first goals for Tottenham as the club triumphed 3-0 over Swedish side IF Elfsborg, securing a spot in the Europa League knockout stages.
Scarlett, who had been recalled from a loan spell at Championship side Oxford United just earlier this month, made an immediate impact. Having been on the pitch for only four minutes, he rose to meet Dejan Kulusevski’s cross and headed home to break the deadlock in the 70th minute.
Ajayi, just 19 years old, also made his mark shortly after coming on. Without having touched the ball much, he drove forward toward the edge of the box, exchanged a quick one-two pass with Scarlett, and then slotted the ball confidently into the bottom corner to double the lead.
Moore, the youngest of the trio at 17, capped off the victory with a stunning individual effort in stoppage time. After weaving past a few defenders, he calmly finished into the far corner to make it 3-0.
The dominant win not only sealed a place in the knockout rounds but also ensured that Spurs finished in the top eight of the group stage, meaning they will go straight into the last-16, avoiding a potentially tricky two-legged play-off next month.
