Rayo Vallecano Extend Unbeaten Home Streak Against Celta Vigo with 2-1 Victory

Adri Embarba shone as Rayo Vallecano extended their remarkable unbeaten home record against Celta Vigo to 14 LaLiga matches (W11, D3) with a 2-1 victory at the Estadio de Vallecas.

The hosts capitalized early when a goalkeeping error from Vicente Guaita allowed Embarba to slot home unmarked within five minutes. The Almería loanee nearly doubled his tally soon after, but Guaita redeemed himself with an impressive save. Celta responded in the 26th minute, as Jonathan Bamba set up Borja Iglesias for a clinical finish to level the match.

Rayo regained control in the second half, and Jorge de Frutos put them ahead again in the 63rd minute with a sharp near-post strike. Celta’s hopes of a late equalizer faded when Williot Swedberg’s header struck Rayo goalkeeper Daniel Cárdenas and Marcos Alonso saw red for a second yellow card.

The win sees Rayo leapfrog Celta into the top half, maintaining their dominance at home against the Sky Blues, who have not secured an away win at Vallecas since 1996.
