David Moyes Set to Return as Everton Manager Following Sean Dyche’s Dismissal

David Moyes is set to hold talks with Everton officials on Friday to finalize a deal that will see him return as the club’s manager. The 61-year-old, who departed West Ham at the end of last season, is expected to sign a contract lasting a minimum of two years. Moyes previously managed Everton from 2002 to 2013, a tenure that earned him significant respect before he moved on to take charge of Manchester United.

Moyes will replace Sean Dyche, who was sacked on Thursday following a disappointing spell in charge. Under Dyche, Everton managed just one victory in their last 11 league matches, leaving them in 16th place in the Premier League standings, a single point above the relegation zone. The decision to part ways with Dyche reflects the ambitions of Everton’s new owners, the Friedkin Group, who completed their takeover of the club only last month. They are eager to announce Moyes’ appointment before the weekend in an effort to stabilize the team and chart a new course.

Dyche’s dismissal was announced just over three hours before Everton’s FA Cup third-round clash against Peterborough United. In the interim, Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman were placed in temporary charge of the team. Despite the managerial upheaval, the Toffees secured a 2-0 victory at Goodison Park, progressing to the next round. Baines later revealed that Dyche had prepared and selected the starting lineup for the match before his departure. Everton now look to Moyes to bring experience and leadership as they aim to move away from the relegation battle and restore stability at the club.
