Como moved two points clear of the Serie A relegation zone after earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw against a 10-man Lazio side at the Stadio Olimpico. The result extended Lazio’s poor league form, leaving them with just one win in their last five matches and further denting their title hopes.
Following a disappointing defeat in the Derby della Capitale, Lazio were desperate for a positive response to steady their season. However, it was Como who took the initiative early on, with Nico Paz threatening twice in search of an opener. As the first half progressed, Cesc Fabregas’ side continued to dominate, with Patrick Cutrone firing narrowly over the bar while the hosts struggled to gain control.
Despite Como’s pressure, Lazio broke the deadlock in the 34th minute with a stunning strike from Boulaye Dia. Receiving a pass from Matteo Guendouzi, the Senegalese forward turned sharply past Marc-Oliver Kempf in the box and curled a clinical effort into the far corner, netting his fifth Serie A goal of the campaign.
The second half began much like the first, with Como pushing forward. Kempf and Alberto Dossena both came close with headed attempts, putting Lazio under increasing pressure. The game took a dramatic turn just before the hour mark when Loum Tchaouna received two yellow cards in quick succession, leaving Lazio to play with 10 men for the remainder of the match.
Taking full advantage of their numerical superiority, Como leveled in the 72nd minute. Gabriel Strefezza delivered a pinpoint cross, and Cutrone rose at the back post to head home the equalizer. The goal sparked a tense final stretch, with Strefezza nearly grabbing a winner for the visitors when his long-range strike whistled just wide of the post.
Despite late pressure from Como, both sides had to settle for a point. The draw lifted Como slightly away from the relegation zone, while Lazio’s stuttering form left them trailing further behind in the Serie A title race.
