The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is reviewing evidence regarding a Premier League footballer in his 30s who was arrested on suspicion of rape. The player is accused of sexual offences spanning from 2021 to 2023 and remains under investigation by the Metropolitan Police, which recently submitted its findings to the CPS.

The footballer, who denies all allegations, was first arrested in July 2022 following claims made by a woman in her 20s. While in custody, he was further arrested in connection with a separate alleged rape involving another woman in April 2021. The Met later confirmed no further action would be taken regarding a June 2021 allegation due to legislation not being in effect at the time.

In February 2023, the player was questioned over a third complainant’s allegations relating to an incident in Barnet, north London, reported in July 2022. He was interviewed again under caution in November 2024.

A Met Police spokesperson stated that the investigation is ongoing, and those who came forward are being supported. The CPS will now decide how to proceed, though no timeline for the decision has been given.
