Lucas Bergvall’s first-half goal gave Tottenham a narrow 1-0 advantage over Liverpool in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The match, however, was marred by a concerning injury to Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur. Early in the first half, Bentancur collapsed on the pitch and required immediate medical attention, leading to an eight-minute stoppage in play. After being stretchered off, he was taken to the hospital for further treatment. The players were visibly shaken by the incident, and the game struggled to find its rhythm as both teams tried to refocus.

As the second half unfolded, the tempo of the game increased. Trent Alexander-Arnold, who had come on as a substitute, saw his shot cleared off the line, while Dominic Solanke had a goal disallowed by VAR for being offside. With neither team able to break the deadlock, it looked as though the match was heading for a goalless draw.

However, in the dying moments, Solanke provided a key assist, picking out Bergvall in the box. The young Spurs forward kept his composure to score his first goal for the club, giving Tottenham a 1-0 victory and a slim but crucial lead to take to Anfield for the second leg.
