Chelsea were left frustrated as they missed the chance to climb to the top of the Premier League table, held to a goalless draw by a resilient Everton at Goodison Park.
Enzo Maresca’s side controlled much of the first half in challenging, blustery conditions, with Nicolas Jackson coming closest to breaking the deadlock when his header struck the post. However, Everton grew into the contest and showed impressive determination, particularly in a feisty second half that saw the hosts create the better opportunities.
Robert Sanchez was called into action to deny Jack Harrison with a fine save, while Iliman Ndiaye’s close-range effort was blocked brilliantly by Tosin Adarabioyo. Despite their dominance in possession, Chelsea struggled to find a way through Everton’s disciplined defense, just as the Toffees had frustrated Arsenal in their previous outing.
The match marked Everton’s first since the Friedkin Group’s takeover of the club, and Sean Dyche’s team delivered a battling performance. The hard-earned point lifts Everton above Crystal Palace into 15th place, continuing their slow climb away from the relegation zone.
For Chelsea, the draw marked a rare setback. It was the first time they failed to score since the opening weekend of the season and brought an end to their run of eight consecutive victories in all competitions. Remaining a point behind Liverpool in the table, Chelsea will have to wait and see whether the Premier League leaders extend their advantage in the later kick-off against Tottenham.
