West Ham’s Second-Half Surge Falls Short as Everton Hold Lopetegui’s Side to 0-0 Draw

West Ham couldn’t capitalize on their second-half dominance, as Julen Lopetegui’s team was held to a frustrating 0-0 draw against Everton at the London Stadium. Under pressure following recent losses, Lopetegui watched his side create several good chances in the second half, including Crysencio Summerville’s close attempt that struck the post after a pass from Lucas Paqueta. Substitute Danny Ings had two late shots saved by Jordan Pickford, who pulled off a superb stop in stoppage time.

Everton, who had the better of the first half, saw Abdoulaye Doucoure nearly score before Summerville’s last-ditch tackle, while Lukasz Fabianski was forced into a fine save from Jesper Lindstrom’s header. Despite West Ham’s home crowd backing, supporters voiced their frustration at the final whistle, as the Hammers remain just six points clear of the relegation zone after a recent 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

Currently sitting two points above Everton in the table, West Ham’s sluggish start under Lopetegui has raised questions, with just three wins in 10 games. Though the club hierarchy is reportedly not considering a managerial change, the team’s lackluster performance until the closing stages has done little to ease concerns as they head into the international break.
