In a Thursday interview with Fabrizio Romano for ‘433,’ Lionel Messi discussed his future, the 2026 World Cup, and his plans after retirement. Although Messi has enjoyed an illustrious career, he made it clear he’s not interested in coaching.
“I wouldn’t like to be a coach. I don’t yet know what I want to do. I just focus on playing, training, and having fun,” he said.
When asked about playing in the 2026 World Cup, Messi expressed doubt. “Honestly, I don’t know. I want to finish this season well and see how I feel after that,” he said, adding that he prefers to live “day by day without overthinking the future.”
Reflecting on his legacy, he expressed gratitude. “Let people remember me however they wish. Winning the World Cup was my biggest dream. I’ve been fortunate to win everything with Barcelona, with Argentina, and to have a wonderful life and family. I’m grateful to God for all of it.”
Messi also spoke about his ambitions with Inter Miami, who recently finished the regular season. “We celebrated that achievement, but the real title we want is the MLS. We made mistakes during the year that we can’t afford in the playoffs,” he said, noting that Miami’s growth-minded approach drives the club’s vision.
