Arteta Provides Key Injury Updates on Saka, Havertz, and Other Arsenal Stars Ahead of Bournemouth Clash

Mikel Arteta has offered a positive update on Bukayo Saka’s injury, clarifying that the knock sustained by the winger is “not serious.” Arteta emphasized that Saka is making good progress in his recovery, and the club is optimistic about his return in the near future.

During a press conference ahead of Arsenal’s match against Bournemouth on Saturday, October 19, 2024, Arteta provided more detail on Saka’s situation, stating:

“It’s not a serious injury, and he is evolving really well.” He also mentioned that Saka had been involved in training in recent days, and the team will assess him further to determine if he can be part of the squad for the upcoming fixture against Bournemouth.

The Arsenal boss continued: “He’s done a few things over the past two days… we are hopeful. We have another training session this afternoon, and he did some bits yesterday, so we’ll see if he makes it on time.”

Saka was forced off during the 51st minute of England’s 2-1 UEFA Nations League defeat to Greece on October 10, 2024, due to a hamstring issue. Initial concerns raised fears of a long-term absence, but Arteta’s latest comments have helped ease the tension around Saka’s fitness, and it seems likely he’ll be back on the pitch soon.

Arteta also provided updates on several other players, including Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, Ben White, and Jurrien Timber.

Regarding Havertz, who withdrew from Germany’s Nations League squad in October 2024 due to a knee issue, Arteta expressed optimism about his availability for the Bournemouth game, stating: “He had a few problems, but we’ve been working through them. If he trains well, he has a good chance to be fit and available.”

Arteta was more cautious regarding Gabriel Martinelli, saying that a decision would be made closer to the match on whether the Brazilian would be part of the squad. On the other hand, he was more definitive about Martin Odegaard, stating, “He’s not going to be fit, but next week could be different.”

In a final note of encouragement for Arsenal fans, Arteta shared that both Ben White and Jurrien Timber are making significant progress in their recovery from injuries and should be nearing a return to action soon.
