Physics: John J. Hopfield and Geoffrey E. Hinton were awarded for their foundational discoveries enabling machine learning with artificial neural networks.
Chemistry: David Baker received half of the prize for his pioneering work in computational protein design, while Demis Hassabis and John M. Jumper shared the other half for their breakthrough in protein structure prediction using AI.
Physiology or Medicine: Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun were honored for discovering microRNA and its crucial role in regulating gene activity.
Literature: South Korean author Han Kang was awarded for her poetic prose addressing historical trauma and the fragility of human life.
Peace: Nihon Hidankyo, representing atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, received the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize.
