Renowned educationist and the Asiwaju of Osogboland, Ajadi Badmus, has passed away at the age of 83. He died in the early hours of Sunday in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.
In a heartfelt tribute issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State expressed deep sorrow over Badmus’ death, describing it as a significant loss at a time when Osogbo is experiencing rapid development, in alignment with the vision that Badmus had long championed.
Governor Adeleke, reflecting on Badmus’ legacy, offered condolences to the Ataoja of Osogbo in Council, as well as to all the sons and daughters of the Osogbo community, mourning the passing of an elder statesman. Adeleke praised Badmus for his extraordinary commitment to progress, calling him “a remarkable advocate for development, a passionate driver of change, and a tireless mobilizer for the advancement of both Osogbo and the state as a whole.”
The governor further noted that during his two years in office, Badmus had been an unwavering force behind various growth initiatives, pushing for both industrial and social development with an impartial zeal for the betterment of Osun State. He also acknowledged Badmus’ instrumental role in the successful initiation of several federal and state projects.
Adeleke recounted how Badmus, as a leader, would often reach out to him, reminding him of projects that needed attention for the benefit of Osogbo. He described Badmus as a staunch advocate for the capital city to be a welcoming home for all people of Osun and beyond.
In his honor, the governor pledged to complete all ongoing projects in Osogbo and promised to go further, ensuring that Osogbo becomes a state capital worthy of its status, fulfilling the vision Badmus so passionately pursued.
