The Kano State Police Command has warned residents against any street protests, vowing to take decisive action against violators. The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, issued the warning while parading arrested criminals at the Command’s headquarters in Bompai, Kano.
He emphasized that the police will not tolerate a repeat of the violence seen during the recent #EndBadGovernance protests and assured that security measures for the upcoming Independence Day celebration on October 1, 2024, are in place.
Haruna urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and celebrate responsibly, while also noting the deployment of officers at key locations to prevent potential threats from a rumored nationwide protest.
Regarding arrests, he revealed that 89 suspects had been apprehended for various crimes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, and drug dealing, with 53 already charged to court and 36 under investigation. The Command’s community and intelligence-led efforts have significantly curbed crime in the state, Haruna added.
