The Nigerian Air Force reports that its aircraft under Operation ‘Hadin Kai’ continue to target insurgent positions around Lake Chad. On October 20, credible intelligence revealed that about 20 boats carrying suspected insurgents and ISWAP terrorists were gathering for meetings on an island in Tumbuns and at Malam-Fatori.
Three NAF aircraft were deployed to strike the targets, observing 20 boats with five to seven insurgents each. Using a mix of bombs and rockets, the strikes hit the targets, leaving survivors fleeing for their lives.
NAF spokesperson Edward Gabkwet stated that the operations confirm a high concentration of insurgents in the Lake Chad area. He added that the Air Force will keep working with the army, navy, and other agencies to eliminate the threat.
